Our Buzzing Story:
Our name is a combination of the two most important BEES in our lives.......Bradley & Wesley; OUR BOYS! Wesley, was born with a rare genetic disorder called Mucolipidosis Type IV (ML4). Although, he is unable to speak, his ability to communicate is quite clear. When he needs something, he summons his older brother with the sound BRAY! Bradley is the shining example of what a brother should be: the tough guy always at his side. Thus, BRAWES (BRAYWES) was born!
BRAWES Bee Farm is located in Sneads Ferry, near the Intracoastal Waterway on land once used for livestock, corn, and tobacco. Times have changed!
We opened our Bee shop with a few different desires. One the hope of spreading the importance of Bees. The second, we realized from many years of Beekeeping that having a place to go and actually see the equipment that you needed was highly important. Lets face it, ordering online, waiting for the delivery and then it getting to you, all the while it not being exactly what you needed or it didn't work with what you currently had for your set-up was frustrating. If you need bee supplies, you typically need it sooner rather than later. Thus, our desire to open a place where you could actually see what you were getting, a place where questions could be answered and a place to go and chat about Beekeeping was opened. No, we don't have all the answers, Beekeeping is one of those things that there are several different options and possibilities, BUT that is what makes it so FUN. We do our best to try and answer questions based on our experience and the tricks of the trade that have been picked up over the years. At the end of the day, it's BEEKEEPING and those wonderful HONEY BEES will do what they want to do, no matter how hard we try. We would love to chat with you if you are considering BEEcoming a keeper of BEES. Or, are currently trying to maintain your BEE yard. Lets help the BEES one HIVE at a TIME!
Not only do we carry Beekeeping supplies, but we also have our own line of Soy Candles and Melts, Honey Soaps, and of Course Honey. We also have seasonal plants and lots more to see.
Did you know?! Bradley our oldest is actually the Soap Maker. When we first opened our shop he wanted something that was his own. Yes, he has his own bees and works them himself, but wanted something in addition to that. SO, he started his own unique HONEY SOAP line. He is truly a young ENTREPRENEUR! Next time you are in the shop, check out his soap. Your hands will THANK YOU!
Wesley, our youngest, is our Bee Whisper. His ability to get into the bee yard, is a little different than you and I. He enjoys riding in his golf cart, to the edge of the bee yard and watching them fly all about. He will sit there for hours watching them work to and fro all the while talking to the bees in his own way.
We look forward to meeting you soon. Stop in and Say HI
